Medicare Advantage Benefits

Medicare mandates that Medicare Advantage Special Needs plans offer the same advantages as Parts A and B. This includes care received in an inpatient hospital, care received in a skilled nursing facility, care received in a hospice, lab work, surgery, outpatient treatment, home health care, and some preventative services.

Advantage programs, however, can also offer further advantages like:

Daycare services for adults

Dental

Fitness subscriptions

Hearing

nutrition education

nonprescription medications

Supports and services for people with long-term conditions

transport to medical appointments

Vision

wellness initiatives

Additionally, some Special Needs plans include care coordination services tailored to your chronic illness. Services like wellness plans to assist you in understanding and adhering to your special diet or other practices that help you manage or enhance your condition are just two examples. You might also have access to medical professionals or facilities that focus on treating chronic illnesses.

Prescription drug coverage being a requirement sets Special Needs plans apart from other Medicare Advantage plans in a significant way.

The benefits for which you qualify depend on your location and the providers of your plan.
